Element 4: Comparison of Aerial Photography and Photographic Essay

Materials:

        1995 Colored Habitat map overlay

        1994 1:24,000 scale Lake Quitman-Cocodrie Topographic Quadrangle

        Photographic Essay

        Ultra-fine black marker pen

        Magnifying glass 

 Exercise: 

        1. Review Cocodrie Photographic Essay. Note locations of each picture taken and the habitat description for each photo. 

        2.  Using the 1995 Aerial Photograph, the 1995 Colored Habitat overlay, and the Cocodrie Photographic Essay, identify habitats locations on the 1994 1:24,000 scale Lake Quitman-Cocodrie Topographic Quadrangle. 

        3. Use the topographic map at the front of the photographic essay to match a picture from the Photographic Essay with each of the habitats on the overlay. Write the picture number from the photographic essay that corresponds to the one of each of the habitat type. Write the name of the identified habitat near the corresponding picture number.
