Wet harvesting cranberries. The ripe
cranberries are knocked off the plants
by a machine. The bog is then flooded with water and the cranberries
float
to the surface. The cranberry has a small air sac at the top of the
berry that
allows it to float in water. The irrigation spickets and the wind are
used to
“herd” the cranberries into one end of the bog for skimming. |
