The bogs are the prime habitat for the
development of cranberry bogs.
Channels are excavated to drain the bog. The cranberry plant needs to
be
in wet soil but not submerged or saturated, and the soil must be dry
during
the late growing and beginning of the harvest seasons. Natural bog
still exists
on the left of the channel and bog converted to cranberry production
is seen
on the right of the channel. |
