Element 1: Comparison of Habitat Maps

Note: Use Colored Habitat maps from Skill 1, Element 3

Materials:

            1984 Habitat Map (1984 Land Cover Map)
            1996 Habitat Overlay (1996 Land Cover Map)
            Drafting tape
            White sheet of paper

Exercise:

1. Tape the colored 1996 habitat overlay over the 1984 colored habitat map. Position overlay using corner marks.

**Hint: Tape one overlay at the left edge. By attaching overlays at opposite side, you can flip overlays to view various combinations of habitat change.**

2. Visually compare the differences between the habitats. Compare 1985 and 1996.
