 Materials:

            1994 1:24,000 scale Lewis Springs-Tomestone SE Topographic Quadrangle
            ruler            

Exercise:

            1.   Use the scale Lewis Springs-Tomestone SE  1:24,000 scale map.

      2.   Examine scale at bottom of page.

      3.   Use ruler.

            4.   Measure distance across study site from west to east.

      5.   Place the ruler over bar scale (bar scale measurement in feet).
